This policy explains how Aroha (“we”, “us”) uses cookies and similar
technologies on the arohadating.com website and in the Aroha mobile
app. It is a companion to our
privacy policy, which covers everything else
we collect and why.
1. What these technologies are
- Cookies — small text files a website stores in
your browser, used to remember things between visits.
- Web beacons / pixels — tiny invisible images or
snippets embedded in a page or ad that report back when they’re
loaded.
- SDKs — the in-app equivalent: code libraries from
service providers (for example, an advertising network) that run
inside a mobile app.
- Advertising identifiers — a resettable ID your
phone’s operating system provides to apps (Google Advertising ID on
Android, IDFA on iOS), used by ad networks instead of cookies.
- Local storage — data an app or site keeps on your
device, such as a sign-in token.
2. On this website
We set no cookies here. arohadating.com is a simple
informational site: no analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels,
and no sign-ups. Two technical notes for completeness:
- Fonts — pages load their two typefaces from
Google Fonts. Google states the Fonts service does not set cookies;
like any web request, your IP address reaches Google’s servers to
deliver the font files.
- Hosting — the site is served by Cloudflare. If
Cloudflare’s security layer challenges suspicious traffic, it may
set a short-lived, strictly-necessary security cookie. It’s used
only to protect the site and identifies no one to us.
3. In the Aroha app
- Signing you in (strictly necessary) — the app
keeps a session token on your device so you stay signed in. It
isn’t a tracking cookie and never leaves your device except to
authenticate you with our servers.
- Advertising — the free Aroha experience is
ad-supported. Ads are delivered by an advertising partner’s SDK,
which may use your device’s advertising identifier, and ad
content itself may use cookies and web beacons to measure that an
ad was shown or tapped. We will name the advertising partner here
before ads go live. Advertisers never receive your profile, your
messages, or your matches.
- No analytics trackers — we don’t embed
third-party analytics or social-media trackers in the app.
4. Your choices
- Browser — you can block or delete cookies in
your browser settings at any time; this website works fine without
any.
- Android — Settings → Privacy → Ads lets you
delete or reset your advertising ID, or opt out of ads
personalisation.
- iOS — the app will ask permission before
tracking (App Tracking Transparency), and Settings → Privacy &
Security → Tracking lets you change your mind anytime.
- Consent — where the law requires it (for
example, the EEA and UK), the app will ask for your consent before
showing personalised ads. Declining means ads are shown without
personalisation — you’re never forced into tracking to use
Aroha.
5. Changes
We’ll update this page as our use of these technologies changes —
most notably to name the advertising partner when ads launch. The
“last updated” date above always reflects the current version.
